原My name is Lucia (pronounced Lu SEE a) but I always get called Sia by my family and friends. I like the name and the way I pronounce it, but I really like being able to shorten it. Sia just flows and I will never go off the name. I highly recommend Lucia as a name to choose for a baby. Really cute! Some other ways to shorten it are Lusisiy, Lu, Luc, Lulu, Sisy, Si, and Lucylu.
译我的名字是卢西亚（发音为Lu SEE a），但我总是被我的家人和朋友称为Sia。我喜欢名字和我发音的方式，但我真的很喜欢能够缩短它。 Sia只是流动，我永远不会离开的名字。我强烈推荐卢西亚作为一个选择一个婴儿的名字。很可爱！缩短它的一些其他方式是Lusisiy，Lu，Luc，Lulu，Sisy，Si和Lucylu。
原Here in Spain, where this name has topped the charts for quite a few years, we pronounce it Lou-THEE-a, which I find rather beautiful. I like it better than Lou-SEE-a, though I much prefer Lucy to LOU-thee. In fact, if my wife and I have a second daughter, this will be her name. I'm not too sure I like the idea of my child sharing her name with hundreds of girls at school, but it's such a lovely name, I think I can put the popularity problem behind me.
原The person above saying this name is pronounced Loo-cha is WRONG. I speak a little Italian and I wasn't sure if they were right or wrong so I asked my cousin (who's first language is Italian) how it is pronounced. She said it was Loo-chee-a. Please change it back.
原This name is growing on me. I didn't like the name Lucy while I was growing up but now I find it okay and this version looks pretty. I guess it could be pronounced either Loo-cee-uh, Loosha or Loo-chee-uh.
原Lucia is the name of the villain of the frame story of Giambattista Basile's fairy tale collection, the Pentamerone. Lucia is a Moorish slave that steals the lover of the protagonist Zoza. Lucia is also used as the name of the villain of the last story in the collection, The Three Citrons, who is similar to the first Lucia.
原My name is also Lucia, pronounced the Italian way, with the Chia sound, and as a child I was tortured in school, so of course I was not happy with it. As I got older though, I grew to love my name and my heritage and the meaning behind it. My great, great, great grandmother carried this name also and I am proud to carry it now and have also given this name to my daughter as her middle name, Mariah Lucia :)
原I'm named Lucia, and I didn't really liked my name until while ago, but now I really do and I would never change it. I'm from Croatia, my mum wanted it to be pronounced loo-chi-a (Italian), but it is little unusual here to pronounce that name like that so I and all my friends pronounce it loo-cee-a (with hard c). I love also the way loo-see-a sounds, but I hate loo-sha.
原My sister was going to be called Lucia (pronounced loo-sha) because my mum and dad were married in St Lucia. However my nanna convinced my mum that the name was too unusual and would cause too much confusion so she changed it to Lucie, which in my opinion is not nearly as beautiful as Lucia.
原In October of 2012, 6 year-old Lucia Krim and her 2 year-old brother Leo were murdered by their Nanny in Manhattan, New York. Senseless and sad story and hate to post it, but when I read this name I think of her. Little Lucia was absolutely beautiful. Her image and name are still in the headlines because the shocking crime rocked NYC. Anyway, little Lucia Ursula Krim went by the nickname 'Lulu'. Lulu is a better alternative nickname than 'Lucy' IMO. In this day of Emily's, Sophia's, Alexis's and Isabella's, the name Lucia definitely stands out. I like the Spanish pronunciation LOO-SEE-YA not LOO-CHEE-AH.
原This name is 'okay'. I'm not crazy about it and would never use it, but the meaning ('light') is pretty. If you have a relative you want to honor (a Lucy, Luciana, Lucia, etc..) it would be a nice middle name. I think it would go well with many first names.
原I have a cousin named Lucia; even though we're British we pronounce it the Italian way: lu-chee-ah. I like it pronounced this way and didn't know there were other ways to pronounce it.(No wonder my boyfriend thinks she's Italian if I pronounce it this way lol). But overall, I think it's a very pretty name.
原I love this name! It sounds so nice. I like the meaning of it to, "brings light into the darkness." I also like several nicknames that could go with this name, such as "Lucy" or "LuLu." And the name is not common in the United States yet, nor is the name Lucy. Of course that could change.
原This is a beautiful name. Any way you pronounce it, whether it be the English "lu-sha" or Italian "lu-CHEE-ah" or the Spanish "lu-SEE-ah" - it's darling. My only concern about this traditional "older sounding" elegant name is that it's quickly becoming very popular, and I fear it will be in the top 10 in the not too distant future. Look at names like Sophia, Isabella, and Emma - numbers 1-3 for 2007, respectively.
原Pronounced loo-CEE-ah in Sweden. Sankta Lucia Day is today - December 13th. As a little girl, I would dress up in a plain white dress and wear a hard plastic green crown with white stuff and artificial candles on it. My family would drive up to a Swedish town that's about a half-hour away. I would go through all of the restaurants and stores with a plate of either cookies or candy, and offer a treat to anyone who passed by.

原According to (http://www.babynames.ch/Info/Name/naLucia2) Lucía ranked 34th place in Peru (2015) and ranked 3rd place in Buenos Aires (2015). I would say Lucía is more popular in Spain than countries in Latin America.
